We are looking to another great year of TIC TOC. We would like you to all take a look at your calendars so that you can fill out the on-line form tomorrow for potential training dates. Please remember to mark your calendars for the Cadre dates which have already been set.

Terri Barclay and I are headed up to Trout Creek to provide training to the staff on effective use of the Smartboard in the K-8 Classroom. With the new content and updates for the Smartboard software a refresher course is important whether you are a new user or have been using these tools for a while. Smart has done an excellent job of providing powerful new resources for the classroom. One of the new tools that I love is the “grouping” feature on the slide sorter. This is a wonderful way to organize your lessons and help you to focus on the content and not the tool! If you have discovered any new tools or tips/tricks that you would like to share, please post a comment on our new blog! You will notice that I have put many wonderful resources in a “smartboard” block on the right. If you know of any others please share them and I will post them to our new blog!

I hope that everyone is having fun getting ready for an exciting new school year. May of you expressed interest in using Google tools and Cell Phones in the teaching/learning environments in your classrooms. One of the best blogs that I read daily is Vicki Davis’ “Coolcat Teacher” Blog. She has a wonderful post that discribes the creatve ways in which she is using these tools to kick off her school year! I think her use of Google Calendar, Wikispaces and Cell Phones to help students stay organized is amazing. I encourage you to subscribe to her blog and also follow her on twitter. She always has innovative ways to use technology in the classroom. Have a wonderfu school year and I encourage you to post questions or comments to our new WM~CSPD/TIC TOC Blog as often as you like!
